Children’s Ward and Specialist Center for Children with Cerebral Palsy
In the federal Indian state of Gujarat, there are around 100 villages in the vicinity of the city Vadodara with a high percentage of the population living below the poverty line. In this region, the Lipoid Stiftung funds a project called, “Each Life Matters”, which establishes a children’s ward in the Dr. M. L. Dhawale Memorial Homoeopathic Institute.
In 2015, a center for children with cerebral palsy was created with support from the Lipoid Stiftung in the project, “UMMEED” – “Hope Lives Here”.
In addition to treatments in the hospital, the central duties of the children’s ward include pediatric events and training as well as mobile physician’s practices and counseling in the villages to educate people on children’s health risks and to prevent possible disabilities resulting from malnutrition of pregnant women. Examinations of the schools take place regularly. The required vehicle used for operations in the surrounding villages was procured with donations from the Lipoid GmbH and the foundation later equipped the vehicle with a wheelchair ramp.
Meanwhile, the center for children with cerebral palsy has developed into a competence center that influences other institutions beyond the actual project area for the benefit of effective therapeutic measures.
The funding of the children’s ward project and the center is a long-term project of the Lipoid Stiftung and should develop further in the future.
